The Evans Scholars Speakers Forum is proud to present University of Michigan Evans Scholar Alumna Mary Petrovich as the 2011 keynote speaker. Mary, a WGA Director, is the former chief executive officer of AxleTech, a Carlyle portfolio company, and now serves as a senior advisor to Carlyle’s industrial and transportation group.
The Carlyle Group is a $130 Billion global asset management firm, based in Washington D.C. that specializes in private equity. It was recently ranked as the third largest private equity firm in the world.
From 2002 through this past summer, Mary served as CEO of AxleTech International, helping to transform an international company on the verge of bankruptcy into the fastest-growing and most profitable company in its industry.
She was named one of Detroit’s most influential women by Crain’s Business in 2007 and was honored as a Crain’s Automotive News Top 100 Women in the Automotive Industry in 2000.
Mary, who received an MBA at Harvard and is a club champion golfer, currently serves on a number of corporate boards including the Modine Manufacturing Company, GT Advanced Technologies, and the Woodward Company. Mary is also on the advisory board at the University of Michigan College of Engineering and Letterwinners M Club Board, where she currently serves as President. She lives in West Bloomfield, Michigan, with her husband Scott and their children, Kyle and Kevin.
