Match Play Challenge
In 2011, the Western Golf Association launched an exciting initiative to raise additional operating funds for the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarships through an innovative Match Play Challenge.
Leading the Challenge were six generous Match Play Partners, who pledged to match all 2011 Par Club gifts of $2,500 or greater. The Match Play Challenge goal was to generate $3.6 million in operating funds – $1.8 million in major Par Club gifts plus an additional $1.8 million in matching funds from our Match Play Partners. The goal was met and surpassed, with $4.3 milion in operating funds raised. Most importantly – with demand for Evans Scholarships at an all-time high – the Match Play Challenge helped to build a solid base to ensure the stability and growth of the Evans Scholars Foundation in the years ahead. Match Play Partners for 2011 were three WGA Directors - Mike Keiser, Jerry Rich and Evans Scholars Alumnus George Solich - and three WGA Evans Scholars supporters - Kevin Flynn, James Perry and Avy Stein. The WGA is working on additional Match Play Partner commitments that would allow the Challenge to match major gifts beyond 2011.
