What is the Evans Scholars Foundation?
The Evans Scholars Foundation is a charitable trust that provides full, four-year tuition and housing college scholarships to deserving caddies. The Foundation is overseen by the Western Golf Association, which also runs three prestigious golf tournaments, including the BMW Championship.
Am I eligible for the Evans Scholarship?

How many Evans Scholarships are awarded each year?
In 2017-18, 790 caddies applied for the Evans Scholarship and 275 scholarships were awarded. The average scholarship recipient logged 160 loops, had an average ACT score of 27 and a FASFA EFC of $7,500. In 2018-19, the Evans Scholars Foundation expects to award 280 Evans Scholarships.
How do I apply for the Evans Scholarship?
Read about the process. Applications are available online beginning August 1, and are accepted at the beginning of the applicant's senior year of high school or freshman year of college. Evans Scholarship applications will receive full consideration when the directions below are followed accurately and completely. Once submitted, all application information and supporting materials will become the exclusive property of the Evans Scholars Foundation and cannot be returned.
When is a scholarship awarded?
Most scholarships are awarded during the applicant’s senior year in high school. Applications are reviewed by the Scholarship Committee and candidates compete for the limited number of scholarships awarded annually. The Scholarship Committee interviews finalists and the final selection rests with the Committee. View the timeline on the application process page.
Which universities can I attend?
Chick Evans Scholarships for caddies are awarded to the universities listed below, depending on the state in which the candidate resides and/or caddies. Living in an Evans Scholarship House on campus is an integral component of the Evans Scholars Program. Applicants are expected to apply to the Evans Scholarship university(ies) listed for their state (Illinois residents should apply to the University of Illinois and to three additional Evans Scholarship universities). Applicants apply directly to the university(ies) for admission and are expected to do so by November 1.
