Your privacy with the Western Golf Association / Evans Scholars Foundation
The following provides an overview of how we protect your privacy during your visit.
Personal Information is collected online when you voluntarily submit non-public personal information on the Site by requesting information, making a donation, applying for the Evans Scholarship, signing up for an account or other Services, receiving electronic notices or other similar communications and other similar activities.
Aggregate Information is non-personally identifiable/anonymous information about you, such as pages most frequently accessed by you, time spent on a page or area of the Site, the number of visits to the Site by you, types of browser used by you, cookie preferences or search terms entered by you. Aggregate Information is used in a collective manner, and no single person can be identified by that compiled information (for example, the number of people who logged into the Site in a particular day). Aggregate Information does not personally identify a specific user.
Personal Information That You Provide to Us
We may obtain Personal Information about you ONLY if you elect to give us that information. Types of Personal Information may include the following:
We may request Personal Information, such as your user name or password, whenever you log in to your account and may in limited circumstances ask you to provide credit card information and other personal information when purchasing goods that are offered for sale on our Site or when making a donation online. We reserve the right to request any additional information necessary to establish and maintain your account. Generally, our uses of Personal Information collected online include, without limitation, responding to your inquiry about volunteering time to WGA/ESF, enabling you to make a donation, awarding Evans Scholarships, or providing information, such as sending marketing communications and newsletters.
WGA/ESF will retain your Personal Information for fulfillment of the intended purposes for which such Personal Information is collected. WGA/ESF will establish minimum and maximum retention periods based upon the type of information collected (i.e., sensitivity), the intended purposes and as otherwise may be legally required.
Aggregate Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, we automatically collect Aggregate Information about your visit. We can tell the type of computer, browser, and web service that you are using. We also know the date, time, and pages that you visit. Collecting this information helps us design the Site to enhance your experience while on our Site.
What are cookies and how does the WGA/ESF use them?
1. Remind us of who you are and to access your account information (stored on our computers) in order to deliver to you a better and more personalized service. This cookie is set when you register or sign in and is modified when you sign out of our services.
2. Estimate our audience size. Each browser accessing the WGA/ESF Site is given a unique cookie, which is then used to determine the extent of repeat usage, usage by a registered user versus an unregistered user, and to help target advertisements based on user interests and behavior.
4. Measure certain traffic patterns, which areas of the WGA/ESF Site you have visited, and your visiting patterns in the aggregate. We use this research to understand how our users' habits are similar or different from one another so that we can make each new experience on the Alumni Network a better one. We may use this information to better personalize the content that you and other users will see on our Site.
With whom does the WGA/ESF share my information?
The WGA/ESF will not sell, trade, or share a donor’s personal information with anyone else, nor send the donor mailings on behalf of other organizations. We will only share personal information when we explicitly have your permission or under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it or under the circumstances described below.
WGA/ESF may need to share Personal Information with third parties in limited circumstances. For example, we may release Personal Information to third parties to perform services such as advising you of our upcoming events, products, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising or processing credit card payments or hosting the Site (and/or features available on the Site). However, such third parties are obligated to maintain the confidentiality of Personal Information and are not authorized to use Personal Information for any purpose other than providing those services.
From time to time, we may be required to provide Personal Information or Aggregate Information in response to a valid court order, subpoena, government investigation, or as otherwise required by law, or if we reasonably believe that you have committed unlawful acts or acts that may endanger the health or safety of another user or the general public. We also reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we, in good faith, believe to be unlawful. We may release certain personal information when we believe that such release is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, and safety of others and ourselves.

What are my choices regarding collection, use and distribution of my information?

We do not sell or rent user information to anyone. We will notify you at the time of data collection or transfer if your data will be shared with a third party and you will always have the option of not permitting the transfer. If you do not wish to allow your data to be shared, you can choose not to use a particular service or not to participate in certain promotions or contests. The foregoing notwithstanding, we reserve the right to transfer data in connection with sale or disposition of all or part of our business.
What about sensitive personal data from the Evans Scholarship Application?
During the Evans Scholarship Application Process, we require select sensitive personal data and will collect it through this Site. The references to "sensitive personal data" are to the various categories of personal data identified by data privacy laws as requiring special treatment, including in some circumstances the need to obtain explicit consent. These categories comprise personal identity numbers, personal data about personality and private life, nationality, religious, philosophical or other similar beliefs, trade union membership, physical or mental health or handicap, gender, property matters, or penal or criminal conviction or record (including where a pardon has been granted). When filling out the Evans Scholarship Application you consent to releasing such information. We have taken all necessary precautions to secure this data and ensure that it will not be used in anyway except for the process of awarding Evans Scholarships. If you have any questions about how we use this data, please contact the Scholarship Committee at:
What security precautions are in place to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of my information?
